We like the new device and we look forward to some traveling this fall, where we can really put to the test. California has many Spanish place names that are sometimes killed by voice, but the printed version is always on the screen, if we do not understand. We have not yet given "her" name, but us!

The product is easy to use, VR command a good feature, I had no problems so far. You do not know how nice it would be compared to Garmin.
For some reason, Magellan customer support is lousy. Very difficult to establish telephone contact and e-mail response is simply no damn good.

It is so great and the base is so large that it blocks the view, the screen is difficult to read by day, tells me the wrong way to go in time, the street name to appear with more points on the same streets, and it me exhibition driving through the fields rather than on the streets viewed times. It quickly brings the satellites, but the interface is cumbersome and requires the eyes from the road too. I was not able to connect with bluetooth at all. Save your money for anotherModel. I have not tried the market, because I either return or sell.

Customer’s Review #1 : I purchased this Magellan RoadMate 1424-LM 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Maps for my wife who, in common female fashion, by no means would ask for directions. Now she utilizes it for planning everywhere, even to the coffee shop at the corner.

I locate it typically precise but sometimes a bit confusing on the north and south directions For example :  if you want to enter a highway planning north but have to move to the south to do so, Magellan says to turn south rather of just saying “right change in “….” feet. We’ve both learned to listen for the bell signifying a move. Seeking forward to making use of it on our cross country following summer time.
